Sarah Currie, MS RDN CDN and co-owner of Physical Equilibrium, is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and personal trainer. She is passionate about helping clients get strong and lean through proper strength training and nutrition strategies. Currie incorporates her extensive knowledge of anatomy and nutrition into her work with clients who are rehabbing an injury, want to improve performance, lose weight, live a healthier lifestyle, or who are managing clinical illnesses.
Currie received her B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Puget Sound in Washington State. She earned her M.S. in Clinical Nutrition from New York University and completed her Dietetic Internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital (now Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West). Currie has worked in various clinical in-patient and out-patient settings over the years, but her private nutrition practice combined with her training experience is where she can really spend the time it takes to improve clients’ lives.
Currie began lifting weights in high school and saw the benefits from a young age, including improved sports performance and a leaner physique. Competing as a short sprinter for her collegiate track and field team is where she learned to power lift. Post-college she competed in numerous endurance events and has competed more than 10 triathlons, two marathons, and one century ride. In the following years, Currie shifted her sights from endurance training to body building. She has returned to her roots as an avid weight lifter and has participated in a local figure competition. She hopes to compete in more as soon as possible!
